**Valley Fort COVID-19 Advice**

Published on March 21, 2020

Just a friendly reminder from the VF Excom (including a few returning pariahs!) that as a community it is our duty to protect against further spread of Covid-19.  Here are some helpful restrictions (plagiarised in the best rugby tradition from a club in Hong Kong) which we request are applied strictly at the upcoming event and any informal beach training.

We please ask members who have been anywhere outside Hong Kong, whether in an area of active community transmission or not (and irrespective of whether they have been told to self-isolate by the Government or not), to please avoid coming to any club event or get-together for a period of 14 days from their most recent arrival back in Hong Kong.

We would also ask members and their guests who have been: (1) in close contact with anybody who has been outside Hong Kong, whether in an area of active community transmission or not, to please avoid coming to any club event for a period of 14 days from the date of first contact with that person; or (2) in close contact with anybody who has been tested positive for COVID-19, to please avoid coming to any club event for a period of 14 days from the date of last contact with that person whilst he was still infected.

What amounts to “close contact” requires the application of common sense and discretion.  It is defined by the New South Wales Government as “greater than 15 minutes face to face contact in any setting”: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/diseases/pages/2019-ncov-case-definition.aspx#h2-close-contact

It therefore includes sitting immediately next to someone at a meal for at least 15 minutes.  It also includes members whose children have returned from abroad and who are living with them under the same roof.
