Welcome to the U19 Boys team! All players eligible for this age group should have been born in 2001 – 2003.
The U19 Boys team is managed and led by parent head coach Fred Laine. Rugby coaching and skill development is run by our Valley SocGen RFC professional players, Matt Roslee and Martin Muller. Click on the coach bio’s below to find out more about about each of them!
The U19 Boys team trains from September 2019 to April 2020 for the 2019/20 season. They predominantly train every Thursday evening and Sunday morning at Happy Valley Recreation Ground #6 unless there is a match / tournament or it is a key holiday period. You can find the detailed training and match / tournament schedules below but always check the Valley Fort App with the latest from your coaches.
The U19 Premiership fixtures and tables are managed bu the HKRU. Always check their website for the latest results. Information on this page will be updated as often as possible to reflect the HKRU tables. Current information updated as of 12th December 2019.
Fred has been a Valley RFC player since 1990 and a Valley Fort Coach since 2008 and has coached at nearly every age group! He has 3 boys across the U9, U19 and U20 (at Valley RFC) age groups.
Matt (Matty) also hails from South Africa and currently plays Fly Half / Centre for Valley RFC as well as representing Hong Kong in XV's. Previously he has played for Western Province and Griquas in the Currie Cup and has IRB Level 2 (working towards Level 3) coaching qualifications.
Martin originally comes from South Africa where he played at U19 and U20 National level. Since then he has played for the Stormers, Cheetah's and Lions in Super Rugby. He has also played for the Barbarians and currently is the Second Row/Lock for Valley RFC. Martin has World Rugby Level 1 and 2 coaching qualifications.
