Welcome to the U8 Boys and Girls team! All players eligible for this age group should have been born in 2013 for the 2020/21 season.
The U8 team is led by parents Adam Wotton and Robin Harris who both do the administration, communication and coaching! Click on the coaches bio’s below to find out more about Adam and Robin and how to contact them with any questions about the U8 program.
The U8 team trains from September 2020 to April 2021 for the 2020/21 season. They typically train every Sunday morning at HKIS in Tai Tam unless there is a Minis Rugby Festival or it is a key holiday period. You can find the detailed training and Minis Rugby Festival schedules below but always check the Valley Fort App for the latest updates from your coaches.
I arrived in Hong Kong with my wife and two children in 2017. My son Nate and I joined Valley Fort for his first season of rugby in the U5's. Having coached one of the U5 teams during that first season, I stepped up into the Co-Head Coach role, alongside Robin, for the 2018 season with the U6's and, as they say, "the rest his history"! Valley Fort has been a brilliant introduction for my son. The environment and support, both for the children and coaches, is second to none in terms of mini rugby. This is no better represented to me every Sunday when Nate drags me to the car for the next training session or more excitedly if its tournament day! Rugby is a game that I have played and loved for most of my life and as such being able to be a small part of making rugby fun and exciting for the next generations is a brilliant experience.
Robin and his wife Alex have two children at Valley Fort. Freddie who plays in the U8 team and his sister, Ella, who is in U5's this year! Robin is responsible for the strategy and management of the Asian operations of Capricorn Capital, specifically its Private Equity activities. Previously he was head of the Private Capital Markets business of Macquarie Capital in Hong Kong and is a CFA Charterholder.
