Welcome to the U9 Boys team! All players eligible for this age group should have been born in 2012 for the 2020/21 season.
The U9 Boys team is led by parent head coach Nick Carlsen who covers all aspects from coaching to communication and administration. The core rugby coaching and skill development is run by two of our Valley SocGen RFC professional players, Jack Capil and Sheldon Coffin. They are also well supported by a core group of parent volunteer coaches. Click on their bio’s below to find out more about them and how to contact them with any questions about the U9 program!
The U9 Boys team trains from September 2020 to April 2021 for the 2020/21 season. They typically train every Sunday morning at Aberdeen Sports Ground on the Southside unless there is a Minis Rugby Festival or it is a key holiday period. You can find the detailed training and Minis Rugby Festival schedules below but be sure to check the Valley Fort App for all the latest updates from your coaches.
After an international career was frustratingly stolen from me by a lack of pace, skill and fragile shoulders, I’ve converted my love of playing into a love of coaching our great game. I try to bring the spirit of rugby and it’s community to our sessions, festivals and to tour. 2020/2021 will be my fifth as a Valley Fort coach, and fourth as Head Coach. We welcome all players, from all backgrounds and all experience levels, and make them feel a part of the team.
