Welcome to the U18 Boys team! All players eligible for this age group should have been born in 2004 – 2005 for the 2021/22 season. Boys born in 2003 may also play but will require dispensation from the Union.
The U18 Boys team is coached by our Societe Generale Valley RFC Pro’s Mitch Purvis and Sion Bennett. The team management and communications are led by parent team managers George Von Burg and Steve Mederios. The U18 Boys team trains from Tuesday 24th August 2021 to April 2022 for the 2021/22 season. They train according to the below schedule:

The U19 Premiership and Championship fixtures and tables are managed by the HKRU. Always check their website for the latest results and league table positions.
Sion is originally from Wales. He has played for the Wales Sevens team, Cardiff Blues, Northampton Saints and the Llaneli Scarlets prior to joining Societe Generale Valley RFC as Loose Forward. Sion has his World Rugby Level 1 coaching qualifications and is now working towards Level 2. He also has his Level 3 personal training qualifications.

George describes himself as a 'long retired enthusiastic rugby player'! He has been involved in coaching Valley Fort teams for over 111 years since his eldest son joined in the U6s. George then became head coach for 4 seasons as well as refereeing throughout the minis contact age groups. He is now honoured to be the manager of our fantastic U18 squad. ‘The Valley Fort family has been a pleasure to be a part of both with our achievements on the pitch and our ethos of fair and inclusive play’.
Steve has been a resident in HK for 16 years and a member of the Valley Fort Rugby Club for 5 years with two boys, both now playing in the U19 age group. He brings a multisport background at the collegiate level from the United States and a passion for developing a teaming culture of players, coaches, and parents.
