Welcome to the U7 Boys and Girls team! All players eligible for this age group should be born in 2016 for the 2022/23 season.
Paul Brodie (also our Head of Minis) and LaRoy Hoard are our U7 Co Head Coaches for this upcoming season supported by Nick Koh as Team Manager! Click on their bio’s below to find out more about them and how to contact them with any questions about the U7 program.
The U7 team trains from Sunday 4th September 2022 to April 2023 for the 2022/23 season. Typically, they train every Sunday morning at Hong Kong International School, from 8am – 9:30am, unless there is a Minis Rugby Festival or it is a key holiday period. Buses also run along the Southside on a Sunday morning to take players and parents there and back. You can find the bus schedule here.
If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to email us.
The spirit of rugby is like no other at Valley Fort! I have been a part of this fantastic community since 2017 when I started as a parent coach with my eldest child’s team. Now our whole family of five dons the red and black jersey each Sunday morning!
Last season, despite its unique challenges, was my favourite by far. Coaching the U5s players and parent coaches and seeing them develop in their first year of Rugby gave me immense pride. This year the U6s will continue that journey to Have Fun, Have a Go and experience the true Valley spirit.
Every weekend I consider myself incredibly lucky to put on my red and black kit and represent Valley Fort RFC. I have been a part of Valley Fort as a parent coach since 2019, and have had a blast sweating it out with our youngest rugby stars every Sunday morning. Rugby is a big part of my family's life as I'm still dusting off the boots every Saturday (against all sane medical advice) to play for the Griffins, one of the social men's rugby teams of Valley RFC. I've been playing for Valley since 2013 and am proud to be a part of one of the best senior and mini clubs in Asia. It has been great to see our players develop the last couple of years and I can't wait to see them thrive as U7s.
I have been part of Valley Fort since 2020, when I started coaching U5s with other parents. It has been terrific to witness the children grow in confidence, skills and importantly, passion for "having a go".
Although training continuity (and overseas trips) have been disrupted by pandemic in the past few years, Valley Fort has been a great community which has helped everyone immeasurably.
Aside from attempting to coach, I am an occasional volunteer photographer. I am an avid and long-suffering Waratahs and Wallabies fan.
