Welcome to the U9 Boys team! All players eligible for this age group should have been born in 2012 for the 2020/21 season.
The U9 Boys team is led by parent head coach Nick Carlsen who covers all aspects from coaching to communication and administration. The core rugby coaching and skill development is run by two of our Societe Generale Valley RFC professional players, Jack Capil and Sheldon Coffin. Click on their bio’s below to find out more about them and how to contact them with any questions about the U9 program!
The U9 Boys team trains from September 2020 to April 2021 for the 2020/21 season. Currently they typically train every Sunday morning 8:00am – 9:15am at Happy Valley Recreation Ground Pitch #6 unless there is a Minis Rugby Festival, joint training with another club has been arranged or it is a key holiday period. However, due to COVID-19 this schedule may be subject to change so please check with Nick or the Valley Fort App for the latest details!
After an international career was frustratingly stolen from me by a lack of pace, skill and fragile shoulders, I’ve converted my love of playing into a love of coaching our great game. I try to bring the spirit of rugby and it’s community to our sessions, festivals and to tour. 2020/2021 will be my fifth as a Valley Fort coach, and fourth as Head Coach. We welcome all players, from all backgrounds and all experience levels, and make them feel a part of the team. I am also overall Head of Minis and sit on the Valley Fort Executive Committee.
